Clear Lake is a natural freshwater lake in Lake County in the U.S. state of California, north of wine country of Napa County and San Francisco. It is the largest natural freshwater lake wholly within the state, with 68 square miles of surface area. At an age of 2.5 million years, it is the oldest lake in North America.

Clear Lake was named by settlers in the late 1800s because of the astonishingly clean air found in the region. And the air remains clean to this day, with the California Air Resources Board certifying Lake County as having the cleanest air in California for the last 23 years.

A 5K is equivalent to 3.1 miles. Factors such as age, sex, and fitness level can influence your 5K time. Many runners complete a 5K in 30 to 40 minutes and is an established benchmark. The average walker finishes a 5K in 45 to 60 minutes.

How many steps is a 5k? A person of average height can expect to take around 6,250 steps over a 5k distance (based on an estimated stride length of 2.1 to 2.5 feet). Once you've crossed the finish line of your first 5k you can start working towards increasing your steps and taking on longer distances such as 10k events.

Average by age and sex

Age plays a part when it comes to determining 5K averages, though as you can see from the chart below, some age groups fare better than their younger counterparts. Use these 5K averages as a guideline to see roughly where you can expect to be when you’re starting out.
