The SWIM team consists of medical and community professionals who know the needs of their communities and goes about developing programs to fulfil those needs. We are a resource to the communities in which we serve.

Northern California

SERVICE AREA

SWIM’S SERVICE AREA is Northern California, particularly the County of Lake and surrounding counties as detailed on the Service Map below. Leave the rest of the paragraph as is. Through our collaborations with other organizations (both for-profit and nonprofit), we also service select areas in Southern California. SWIM has plans to expand across the country starting in the year 2021.

Our Generous Donors

The minimum amount to qualify on the Tiders wall is a $2,500 donation. This amount is cumulative, thus it does not require that the minimum amount be made at one time.
 
Donations can be a combination of cash and in-kind gifts such as professional services, volunteer time, real estate, vehicles, etc. In-kind gifts are measured by a reasonable value assignment to the gift.

Dianne Thompson, MBA

Seniors Chair/President & CEO

Dianne Thompson earned her undergraduate degree from Notre Dame de Namur University with a major in Business Administration and Economics. She went on to earn her MBA from the Graziadio School of Management at Pepperdine University. While working for the John Wayne Cancer Institute as Special Events Director, she earned a fundraising certificate from UCLA Extension. Ms. Thompson has also worked as a Comptroller for a publicly-traded company on the American Stock Exchange where she was responsible for filing 10Qs and 10Ks. Additionally, she has served as CFO and partner in a music streaming platform.

For the past 25 years, Ms. Thompson has founded two consulting companies—Improved Efficiency and Common Cents Development Corp (CCDC) in 1997 and 2011 respectively where she has consulted in a variety of industries including entertainment, foster care, and marketing. In 2019, she founded Solano Women in Medicine (SWIM) to address health disparities in underserved populations.

Juliann Fisher-Batiste, MBA

Community Outreach Chair

Juliann Fisher-Batiste earned a BA degree in Organizational Development & Behavior from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Because there was no major at the time that fit Ms. Fisher-Batiste’s educational aspirations, she individually designed her major, which was approved by the UM Board of Regents; including courses in business, psychology, communications, industrial psychology, as well as graduate level classes and research. This was the beginning of the hallmark of Ms. Fisher-Batiste’s career as a problem solver and leader.

Ms. Fisher-Batiste met Dianne Thompson when they both enrolled at Pepperdine University Graziadio School of Management and received their respective MBAs together. They have been lifelong friends and business partners ever since. Additionally, Ms. Fisher-Batiste has worked for over 25 years as a VP in client service management of mid-jumbo- sized contribution plans totaling over $900M in assets where she held Series 6, 26, and 63 licenses. Over that career span, she handled some of the more complex plans and clients.

Janet Duffy, Ph.D.

Mental Health and Veterans Chair

Dr. Jan Duffy is a “relationship builder”, who utilizes her considerable experience, as a Clinical Psychologist, Business Entrepreneur, Marketing leader, to help others make decisions based on their values, wants, and needs. Dr. Duffy has been very versatile in her life from the ownership and management of a chain of hospitals, a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, and a best-selling author.

Dr Duffy’s considerable educational background includes:

Mary Lou Licwinko, JD, MHSA

Fundraising Chair

Most recently retired as the Executive Director and CEO of the San Francisco and Marin County Medical Societies, Ms. Licwinko has been a long-term resident of City of San Francisco and the Bay Area. As such, she is very knowledgeable about the needs of her communities and has actively participated in initiatives such as homelessness and other maladies that harm communities.

Ms. Licwinko received a law degree from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law and MHSA, Health Administration from the University of Michigan. In retirement, Ms. Licwinko is an avid painter and a member of San Francisco Women Artists.

Karen Relucio, MD

Public Health Chair

Dr. Karen Relucio’s specialty is infectious diseases. Her career includes: public health officer of Napa County, medical director of public health clinics, assistant health officer and chief of infectious diseases for the San Mateo County Health System and a clinical instructor at Stanford University Medical Center. In 2021, Dr. Relucio was awarded Woman of the Year by California State Senator Bill Dodd.

With considerable experience in public health, Dr. Relucio is instrumental in the development of SWIM’s programs to address the health disparities in our communities. She has been a long-term advocate for controlling the spread of infectious diseases and a leader in the management of Covid in the public sphere. Additionally, she is at the forefront of modalities to manage ACEs and toxic stress syndrome.

Donna Seabrooks, MD

Eye and Vision Health Chair

Dr. Seabrooks specialization is Ophthalmology. As an ophthalmologist, she has been instrumental in the diagnosis of chronic diseases such as diabetes and how this affects vision health. Dr. Seabrooks received her medical degree from the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine and her undergraduate degree from Howard University.

As a child, Dr. Seabrooks experienced homelessness and spent time in the foster care system. These life experiences shaped Dr. Seabrooks to be an advocate for the vulnerable and underserved as well as provided her the drive to become a physician. As a board member of SWIM, she is particularly involved in the programs ACEs low, Resilience HIGH, Building Bridges, and HomeMoreness.

Sarah Spella

Physical Education Chair

Sarah Spella received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point. She is a licensed/certified Adapted Physical Education Teacher. Ms. Spella taught for 30 years as a public-school teacher in adapted physical education. Served for 24 years and holds multiple certifications in personal training through ACE, 24-hour Fitness, Johnny G and Les Mills. To meet the needs of special education students, Ms. Spella modified curriculum and equipment as well as consulted with parents, staff and therapists in order to provide the best services for her students.

Additionally, Ms. Spella has served for 23 years as a Special Olympics Coordinator in partnership with PPS and 35 years as a group exercise Instructor. She served for 10 years on the Board of Directors for the nonprofit organization Bustin Barriers. She is currently working through SWIM to develop exercise stations in Lake County California parks as well as other fitness-related activities to improve the health modalities of the county in which she lives.

 

Melanie Watson, DDS

Oral Health Chair

Dr. Melanie Watson has been practicing for over 35 years in the field of general dentistry. She is a graduate of Fisk University and Meharry College School of Dentistry in Nashville Tennessee. Dr. Watson is an active participant in organized dentistry: American Dental Association Illinois State Dental Society, Fellow in the International College of Dentist Chicago Dental Society, and the National Dental Association.  

Additionally, Dr. Watson provides dental care to inmates in the Cook County Illinois penal system and is sensitive to the special needs of inmates managing their dental health both during and after incarceration. She is particularly involved in the development of SWIM’s program F.I.R.E.
